Horizon Estates, Parker

A soft, serene living and dining space.

Before & After

The tranquilty of the calm waters and blue skies from the artwork helped to set the tone and mood of the room’s design. Despite the lack of furniture, the space felt visually heavy with its thick-framed artwork and dark, upholstered dining chairs. There was also a lack of balance, as most of the furnishings were on one side of the room.

With a fresh coat of paint, new light fixtures, and light-colored furnishings, the space now feels much more open and bright. To save cost we kept the window blinds but added ready-made white linen curtains to soften and add depth to the walls. We also kept the dining table but added Parson-style dining chairs for a classic and clean look. The final touch of re-accessorizing the shelves and tables using colors from the artwork helped tie everything together.

Oh, and we can’t forget to mention the amazing transformation of the entryway! If space allows it, a console table and mirror are great additions to an entryway for guests to place their keys and purses on, and who doesn’t like to check themselves out before heading through the door? :) With the large wall space, I knew the oversized, arched mirror was going to be the perfect addition. Not only is it gorgeous, it also makes the space look twice as big!
